At the start of the 1950s, the long-established Alfa Romeo company was set to enter another phase of its history. Although it made truck and bus chassis, boat and plane engines, end even stoves, up to World War II its car production had been confined to prestigious and highly successful sporting motors. Then, in 1951, the Giulietta Spider and its Sprint coupe sibling made a technological leap to redefine contemporary sports-car standards.
